This is a full-time, outdoor, hands-on role that also includes light administrative responsibilities to support site operations.Railserve is a leading provider of industrial railyard services across the United States and Canada. Our teams deliver on-site rail switching, material handling and transloading, track construction and maintenance, and locomotive service and repair for customers who depend on safe, reliable rail operations every day.

We invest in our people, promote from within, and use innovative, safety-focused technology to keep railyards running efficiently.In this role, you will operate locomotives, assist with switching operations, and support the safe movement and placement of railcars, while also assisting with basic administrative and clerical tasks. This is an entry-level opportunity with training provided for individuals who are reliable, safety-minded, and willing to learn. If you enjoy a mix of hands-on work and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, this role may be a great fit.Schedule: Rotating schedule between day shift and night shift.

Overtime may be required.Compensation: $21.50 – $24.50 per hour (based on experience).Duties:Inspect locomotives prior to operation (fuel, sand, water, and supplies)Operate locomotive controls such as throttle and air brakesInterpret train orders, signals, and safety rulesAssist with switching, placement, and movement of railcarsOperate switches, derails, gates, and trackside equipmentControl movement of equipment using radio, hand signals, and lanternsCouple and uncouple railcars; handle air hoses and wheel chocksApply and release hand brakes to secure equipmentMonitor track conditions and identify hazardsEnter data into internal systems and maintain accurate recordsSend email updates and communicate with customers as neededPerform clerical tasks to support site operationsAssist in training new employeesPrepare reports related to delays, incidents, or operational issuesPerform routine lubrication and basic maintenance tasksFollow all safety procedures and wear required PPEPerform additional duties as assignedJob Requirements:High school diploma or equivalentAbility to pass a physical, drug screen, and background checkAbility to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environmentsAbility to lift, carry, and handle equipmentAbility to climb on and off railcars, ladders, and platformsBasic computer skills (data entry, email communication)Strong communication and teamwork skillsDependable with reliable transportationAbility to follow instructions and safety proceduresMilitary experience is a plusWhat We Offer (Benefits): Railserve is committed to being an Employer of Choice, offering competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package:Medical, Dental, and Vision coverageCompany-paid employee and dependent life insuranceCompany-paid sickness and accident income401(k) with company matchAnnual safety shoe reimbursementPrescription safety wearHoliday payVacationMarmon employee discount programAdditional Information: Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
