Rail Loader - VPC 1st ShiftThis position is responsible for loading vehicles into bi-level/tri-level auto racks for delivery to off-loading destination sites in accordance with the guidelines set by the Association of American Railroads and Hyundai GLOVIS transportation and vehicle handling procedures. Must be open to overtime and weekend work.Responsibilities:Perform loading operations inside rail carsPerform job responsibilities in a safe manner following company safety policies and proceduresDrive customer's vehicles of various sizesWalk, stand, bend, kneel, climb, and balance on railcarsUse of hand toolsSet up store bridge platesOpen, close, and seal rail car doorAscend and descend railcar ladders (using 4 points of contact) and loading rampsWork at heights while loading upper rail car levelsPerform loading in accordance to the AAR and Hyundai GLOVIS handling manualSpot/park vehicle inside rail cars (with training and approval)Operate loading ramp (with training and approval)Write down VIN numbers on verification sheet (with training and approval)Scan vehicle with scanning device (with training and approval)Other Responsibilities:Report all hazard/injuries/near misses to van driver or supervisorProperly wear safety equipment when working in and around railFollow rules, regulations, and proceduresMake sound decisions in preventing hazard to yourself and co-workersObey lead person/supervisor instructionsCommunicate well with co-workersPerform other departmental duties when needed and as assignedKnowledge / Skills/ Abilities:Ability to read and writeAbility to effectively communicate verbally or in writingAbility to interpret and follow verbal and written instructionAbility to record and verify numbers/characters in lengthAbility to work independently and in crew settingsAbility to work in confined quartersAbility to drive both automatic and standard shift vehiclesEducation:High School Diploma/GED (Required)Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
