Description:
In this position, the Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures to obtain desired results according to physician specifications.
This includes, but is not limited to, transferring patients for examinations, utilizing ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, and assisting with the X-ray examination process.
The essential duties and responsibilities include performing diagnostic X-ray procedures and ensuring the appropriate operation of all X-ray imaging and related equipment.
The technologist is responsible for educating, positioning, immobilizing, and performing X-ray procedures.
They coordinate X-ray examinations to ensure timeliness, quality, and continuity of patient care.
It is crucial to understand and accurately follow provider imaging orders.
Required images and related clinical information must be submitted to the Radiologist for interpretation.
Image quality must be appropriately evaluated.
The technologist is expected to communicate openly, accurately, and responsively with patients, coworkers, Radiologists, and leadership.
They will also utilize, charge, and maintain department supplies appropriately.
Practicing sterile technique and adhering to infection prevention policies are essential components of the role.
The ability to handle multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines is necessary.
X-ray procedures must be performed safely, including patient transfer.
The technologist prepares and administers contrast according to Radiologist protocol.
Following radiation safety measures (ALARA) to ensure patient and staff safety is a critical responsibility.
Additionally, the technologist supervises and evaluates student radiographers in the clinical setting.
Required skills include the ability to communicate effectively in a multi-functional team, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred skills are not applicable.
A personal radiation monitoring badge (dosimeter) is required for this assignment.
