X‑Ray Technician
Perform radiographic examinations in compliance with regulatory and departmental requirements, ensuring proper positioning, image quality, and radiation safety.
Job Overview
Provide direct patient care and support to physicians while operating X‑ray equipment and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Position patients under the X‑ray machine, adjust immobilization devices, and provide appropriate radiation protection.
- Adjust switches regulating exposure length and intensity.
- Assist physicians with procedures, including EKGs, phlebotomy, and injections.
- Prepare reports and maintain records of services rendered.
- Maintain radiological film files, pull X‑rays for referrals, and keep logs of images sent out.
- Keep an updated consolidated log of X‑rays performed versus reports received.
- Maintain supplies and equipment, practice OSHA safety standards, and ensure accurate legal and ethical documentation at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with empathy toward patients.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, front‑desk staff, and administrators.
- Problem‑solving mindset focused on patient care and team goals.
- Knowledge of medical products, services, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Skill in operating phones, personal computers, software, and other IT systems.
- Detail‑oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
- Ability to maintain organized systems for timely patient flow.
- Ability to remain calm in busy or stressful situations.
- Awareness that the position may require local travel to cover multiple centers.
Education & Experience
- Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology program.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of X‑ray technologist experience in a comparable setting.
- Preferred: Experience with an EMR system.
- Licensed or certified as required by state regulations.
- CPR for Healthcare providers required.
Compensation
Hourly rate: $24.00 – $34.25 (base). Final compensation depends on experience, education, location, and other factors. Position may also be eligible for bonuses or commissions.
