What You Will Do
- Admit and orient patients to the electrophysiology lab according to the pre‑procedural checklist, accurately entering patient information into the database, hemodynamic, and x‑ray systems. Explain testing procedures to patients and/or significant others.
- Maintain all equipment and accessories needed for cases, completing room inventory.
- Set up rooms for cases and perform as scrub assistant.
- Operate and maintain electrophysiology lab equipment, including cardiac mapping systems and intracardiac echocardiography machines.
- Maintain supplies and enter charges for supplies used during cases.
- Assist physicians during electrophysiology procedures, including catheter placements, electrophysiology studies, and device implantations. Communicate information to physicians about patients and/or cases. Collect and analyze cardiac rhythm strips and other diagnostic data.
- Observe all occupational and radiation safety regulations, wearing appropriate protective aprons, goggles, and gloves.
- Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth, maintaining all required certifications and licenses, completing mandatory education requirements, and staying abreast of changes in technology.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
- Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within six (6) months from date of hire into classification.
- Currently registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and/or American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT).
- Two years' experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or electrophysiology lab may substitute for licensure/certification/registration requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent. One year of experience preferred.
