Radiology Tech - Cath Lab, CVT (Open). CVT opportunity for ARRT, RCIS, or RCES for Cath Lab within Level 1 Trauma Center in Roanoke, Virginia. Sign on bonus up to $30,000 and relocation allowance available. New Grad Rad Tech encouraged to apply. Specialized training provided to earn RCIS certification. Call required with 30-minute response time.

About the Cath Lab
The Cath lab is an ACC-accredited Chest Pain center and ACE-accredited PCI Center. As a 24/7 STEMI program the Cath Lab offers state of the art procedures such as TAVRs, Mitral Clips, Watchman/Amulet, PFO Closures, and is a high-volume PCI center. There are 6 Cath procedure rooms, located in the newly built Crystal Springs Tower. The Crystal Springs Tower is a 400,000-square-foot expansion to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital – the home of our Cardiovascular Institute and an expanded Emergency Department.
What we do
- Complex therapies/treatments include: Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring (SWAN pulmonary artery pressure monitoring, continuous trans venous pacing (TVP))
- Equipment includes: Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), IMPELLA ventricular assist device, Shockwave IVL, Rotablator and CSI Atherectomy, Coroflow MVD studies
- Procedures: Diagnostic, Interventional and Complex/High Risk PCI, Structural (TAVR, PFO/ASD, Paravalvular Leak, LAA Closure, Evoque Triscuspid VR, Mitral and Tricuspid Valve TEER), Cardiomems, LVAD/Advanced Heart Failure, Diagnostic and Interventional Peripheral Procedures
- Structural Research Clinical Trials: BASELINE Trial, ENCIRCLE trial, Cerclage EFS, CLASP II Tricuspid Regurgitation trial, PARADIGM trial, ASAP II trial, CONFORM Pivotal Trial
- Coronary Artery Disease Clinical Trials: ARTISAN Study, SAFE STEMI Study, Protect IV Trial, WARRIOR Trial
Responsibilities
- Provides direct assistance to physicians and patients to achieve optimum outcomes.
- Prepares patient and technically advanced equipment for advanced invasive procedures. Scrubs and assists physician during procedures.
- Advises and plans with physicians on procedural strategies and supplies. Assists in emergent conditions.
- Ensures patient, physician, and team needs are met during procedures. Serves as patient advocate, advising on medication for patient needs.
- Obtains and sets up procedural supplies and equipment. Operates x-ray equipment and administers medication under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician.
- Monitors and interprets EKG and hemodynamics during procedures. Performs data management for various databases, including documentation for case proceedings, moderate sedation, pain management, and medication administration.
- Performs advanced data manipulation to obtain value areas, shunt calculation, and cardiac outputs in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Supports electrophysiology studies and ablations.
- Participates in procedure team tasks such as transport, sheath removal, and closure site care. Assists in informed consent and patient education.
- Contributes to Carilion Clinic’s scorecard, performance improvement activities, and mission. Actively participates in achieving service line outcomes.
Qualifications
What We Require:
- Education: Graduate of Allied Health Profession School (RTR, RT).
- Experience: Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology or Electrophysiology experience preferred.
- Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, RCIS or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist, RCES or Radiologic Technologist, Registered, RT(R), or Registered Respiratory Therapist, RRT or Certified Respiratory Therapist, CRT.
- Life Support: AHS BLS-HCP required. Must obtain AHABLS based on work unit. Must successfully complete AHA ACLS within six months of hire date and maintain current status.
- Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamworking skills. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position.
