Shift

Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Shift varies (8, 10, or 12 hour shifts).

Job Description Summary

The Radiology Student Tech performs duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of demonstrating structures for interpretation and/or therapeutic intervention. Responsibilities include preparing equipment used to expose the x‑ray film, developing and organizing films, and preparing patient rooms, supplies, and medications (contrast agents).

Radiology Student Tech I Duties

Transport and monitor patients as necessary. May perform x‑rays (abdomen, upper, and lower extremities) under supervision, once required clinical competencies are completed.

Radiology Student Tech II Duties

Perform x‑rays unsupervised (including fluoroscopy and surgery) after completing required clinical competencies.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required. Must be enrolled in a CAHEA accredited radiology program or equivalent. Radiology Student Tech II must have completed 12 months of the CAHEA program.

License

Certifications

Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire.

Experience

Previous clinical rotation experience required.

Physical Demands

This job is moderately active: involves sitting, frequent movement, travel within the SRHS service area, lifting and carrying objects, exposure to body fluids, repetitive movements of wrists and fingers, and visual acuity requirements.
