Radiologic Technologist

Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology. Familiar with and adheres to departmental protocols and policies and procedures. Obtains RT(R) credentials and maintains active status. Uses technical knowledge and ability to assist in troubleshooting work unit problems with respect to equipment and protocols. Enthusiastically shares knowledge with employees and students in the work unit. Ensures that patient demographics, emulsion markers, and examination requests are correct. Critiques, orients, and saves all pertinent images. Transmits QA-ed images to PACS and ensures that all images reach PACS. Documents completion and/or cancellation of all procedures in the system, documenting comments as appropriate. Maintains image management equipment and reports any equipment problems to appropriate resources. Utilizes systems effectively to obtain additional study data. Performs work in a timely manner and produces quality radiographic images consistently. Analyzes requests and draws appropriate conclusions for examination and action plan. Reviews radiographic orders and images, correlating patient demographic information to ensure accuracy. Reviews daily schedules and/or status of patients waiting for examinations. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Documents incidents and advises area supervisor of improvement opportunities. Uses systems effectively to access information and document the status of procedures. Modifies necessary orders for appropriateness. Completes examinations in the system, quality checks, and transmits information to PACS. Verifies that all information has arrived properly in PACS. Verifies patient identity and obtains relevant patient history to the examination order. Verifies pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation. Assesses the patient's physical condition and develops an action plan for the examination. Determines if additional medical personnel or equipment are needed and takes appropriate action. Assists patients needing extra attention and reacts to emergency situations, ensuring patient safety.
