Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide operational leadership to diagnostic imaging department(s) that may include radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, ultrasound, computed tomography, nuclear medicine and/or magnetic resonance imaging services.
  • Plan, organize, and direct 24/7 operations and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services supporting patient care.
  • Establish protocols and practices to ensure compliance with standards, policies and procedures, The Joint Commission standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify best practices, standardize workflows/processes, and develop action plans to implement changes.
  • Establish and manage capital and operating budgets to achieve financial targets through effective utilization of personnel, resources and supplies.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external peers, leaders, and regulatory agencies to facilitate collaboration on initiatives or issue resolution.
  • Provide guidance and direct intervention to resolve challenging or complex situations.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory standards applicable to all department and patient care activities.
  • Establish departmental policies, procedures and performance standards aligned with administrative policies and licensing requirements; review annually.
  • Plan and direct overall operations of the Digital Imaging Department, including Computerized Radiography and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Act as professional liaison with Medical Staff, Business Office, Admitting, Accounting, Information Systems and all departments to ensure a cohesive Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Maintain staffing at levels appropriate to acuity and safe patient care.
  • Understand imaging operations and workflows and their impact on other departments.
  • Develop and manage budgets in line with organizational goals, patient safety standards, and operational objectives.
  • Build and sustain effective working partnerships with employees, peers and leaders to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrate tactical and analytical thinking, develop plans to accomplish objectives, identify obstacles, and resolve operational issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science, Public Administration or Business Administration. Specialized training in Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound Technology preferred.
  • Certification & Licensure: BLS – Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider; ARRT Radiography certification required; CRT – Certified Radiologic Technologist.
  • Experience: Five years of supervisory experience in all medical imaging functions preferred.
