We are seeking a Board Certified Interventional Radiologist to join our provider network in support of a long-term U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs contract at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. This is a rare opportunity to deliver high-acuity, complex interventional care to our nation's Veterans while working under a stable, multi-year engagement not a short-term locum assignment.
This position is structured as a 1099 independent contractor engagement, offering schedule predictability, competitive hourly compensation, and the autonomy of independent contractor status.
What You'll Do- Provide comprehensive interventional radiology services in clinic and procedural settings, Monday Friday, standard business hours
- Perform approximately 1,000 1,500 procedures annually, including bone/bone marrow/renal/lung/liver biopsies, angiography, arterial and venous embolization, drainage procedures, and GI tube placement
- Manage a high-acuity, complex case mix roughly split between inpatient and outpatient including female interventional care
- Deliver pre- and post-procedure evaluation, consultation, and follow-up in coordination with referring clinicians
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation for evenings, weekends, and holidays, split with VA staff physicians
- Maintain compliance with VA credentialing, privileging, and clinical documentation standards
- Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (required)
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
- Demonstrated experience in high-acuity interventional radiology procedures
- Ability to complete VA credentialing and privileging prior to start
- Comfortable working on-site this role does not include a telehealth component
- Current BLS certification
- Onsite/active clinical hours: competitive 1099 pay up to $400/hr, commensurate with experience
- On-call standby hours: $48 $54/hr
- 1099 independent contractor structure no employer tax withholding; contractor manages own self-employment tax
- Malpractice/professional liability coverage support provided in connection with this engagement
- Long-term contract visibility: base year plus up to four option years (potential 5-year engagement)
