Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Team as an Echocardiographer!
Job Description:
- Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures with precision and care.
- Assist a trained, credentialed cardiology attending during stress echocardiogram and TEE procedures.
- Possess and apply complete knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Execute diverse echocardiogram techniques, including:
- 2-D M-Mode
- Color flow imaging
- Stress echo
- TEE
- Doppler studies
- Demonstrate familiarity with Strain and 3D echocardiography.
- Obtain comprehensive patient history and carry out procedures as ordered.
- Help patients onto and off the examination bed with compassion and efficiency.
- Communicate acute or life-threatening abnormalities to the supervisor promptly.
- Relay abnormal study findings directly to the cardiologist.
- Acquire and store echo studies digitally for precision in physician interpretation.
- Transport equipment to the patient's room for bedside studies efficiently.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain echocardiography equipment, reporting any breakdowns and supply needs.
- Complete and process billing charge requisition, log books, worksheets, and reports with accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by preparing the room for the next patient.
- Uphold knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques and principles of isolation according to policy.
- Identify and address the needs of diverse patient populations, ensuring care is tailored accordingly.
- Adhere to accrediting standards and Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
- Assist in the training of new employees in the cost center.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and monitoring.
- Perform other tasks as assigned with enthusiasm and professionalism.
Skills Required:
- Familiarity with computers and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Knowledge of sterile operative techniques.
- Must document at least 15 hours of echocardiography-related continuing education over three years.
- Must acquire and maintain competencies, certifications, and continuing education for accreditation or licensing requirements.
Preferred Skills:
- One year of clinical echocardiography experience preferred.
- Two years prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory or invasive procedure area.
- Experience in Vascular testing is a must.
Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a certified cardiovascular technology school or an accredited ultrasonography program with a specialty in cardiac sonography (RDMS or RDCS).
Certifications & Licensure Required:
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certification.
- Maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification within 30 days of hire.
Languages:
- English (Read, Write, Speak)
Schedule Notes:
- 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 5x 8hr shifts; No weekends, No holidays, No On-call.
- Must have experience in Echocardiogram.
