Cat Scan Technologist

Nights: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Sunday to Thursday. This is a 13-week contract position.

The Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complex CT procedures using professional judgment to review and obtain patient clinical history.
  • Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient and/or family member.
  • Identify and administer contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Review the patient prescription for appropriateness and communicate with the Radiologist and Referring Physician if necessary.
  • Call physicians to clarify prescriptions in accordance with appropriate CT protocols.
  • Verify insurance authorization and send exam modification forms to Finance for insurance re-verification.
  • Obtain outside studies and schedule them in EPIC to ensure availability for Radiologists.
  • Evaluate radiographs using the PACS System for proper identification and diagnostic value.
  • Gather relevant information for patient safety and prepare protocols for scanning.
  • Determine patient preparation for procedures and administer appropriate types and doses of contrast.
  • Monitor patient conditions during procedures and address any adverse reactions.
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients, documenting their questions and concerns.
  • Maintain adherence to policies regarding Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
  • Lift a minimum of 25 lbs, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs, and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
  • Adapt care delivery based on the specific needs of the patient population served.
  • Participate in scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; overtime may be required.
  • Comply with on-call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • At least 2 years of CT experience required; 5 years preferred.
  • Experience with GE Equipment, Epic EMR, and Fuji PACS is required.
  • ARRT (CT) certification must be achieved within the first twelve months of employment.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification must be obtained within three months of hire.
  • Must possess an NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License and ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required.
