CT Technologist
Reporting to the Section Leader of CT, the CT Technologist utilizes computed tomography to produce images that assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury.
Job Functions
- Secures diagnostic images using advanced equipment and techniques to provide comprehensive care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Ensures compliance with all Federal and State regulations and departmental policies regarding radiation control.
- Participates in ongoing education and documentation, including concepts of dose optimization and safe operating procedures.
- Assists in the strategic development of CT services to adapt to evolving customer needs and support service growth.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of procedures for efficient unit operations.
- Adheres to Joint Commission, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
- Fosters effective relationships within and outside the department.
- Maintains compliance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensures quality standards are met in patient care across all age groups, from neonate to geriatric.
- Stays current with the latest developments in CT technology and practices.
- Demonstrates basic patient education skills.
- Accurately documents patient medical information.
- Follows established patient identification protocols.
- Assists in evaluating new imaging equipment as required.
- Interacts professionally with patients, vendors, colleagues, and medical staff.
- Acts as a preceptor for new employees and trains students, interns, and externs as necessary.
- Promotes service excellence and maintains performance standards.
- Completes mandatory competencies, Healthstream courses, and maintains required licensure, certifications, and accreditations.
- Participates in hospital and Imaging Services committees when assigned.
- Maintains and supports patient rights to care, privacy, and respect.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine required.
- Experience: Two or more years of experience as a CT Technologist preferred.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Current advanced ARRT CT registration strongly preferred.
- Current licensure as a Radiologic Technologist or CT Technologist in Massachusetts required.
- BLS healthcare provider certification required.
