The Facility
James J. Peters VA Medical Center is a 311-bed tertiary care teaching hospital in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx, affiliated with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Interventional Radiology is a dedicated procedural service working alongside General Surgery, supported by IR nursing, radiologic technologists and surgical scheduling staff.

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM on site. After-hours call (evenings, weekends and holidays) is phone-first: on average about 15 calls a month, with roughly one return to the hospital per month; when a return is needed, arrival within 45 minutes. 1099 independent contractor engagement.

Responsibilities
- Perform the full range of vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures: angiography, balloon angioplasty and stenting, embolization and chemoembolization, Y90 radioembolization, thrombolysis and TIPS.
- Perform image-guided biopsies, drain insertions, nephrostomy, cholecystostomy, biliary intervention, gastrostomy, IVC filters, line placement and dialysis access interventions.
- Perform microwave/radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation, endovenous laser ablation and kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty.
- Consult with referring physicians on appropriate indications and the most expeditious work-up; review consults and next-day cases daily.
- Provide post-procedure evaluation, follow-up and management of complications, and complete quality-management documentation.
- Provide phone consultation to residents and medical staff; participate in staff meetings and quality/peer review.
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology, with Maintenance of Certification current
- Current, full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state (New York license not required)
- Hands-on experience across the vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures listed above
- VA or other federal hospital experience is a plus
