Location: Waycross Radiation Oncology

Pay Range: $30.94 - $60.74

Position Summary

The Radiation Therapist (RTT) reports to the Radiation Therapy Lead and provides the technical portion of radiation therapy treatments within the department of Radiation Oncology. Responsibilities include delivery of radiation treatments according to prescriptions and treatment plans while ensuring safety and documenting records. The RTT supports patients, staff, and quality processes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver radiation treatments, ensuring correct patient identification, positioning, and safety.
  • Assist patients onto the treatment table and escort them in and out of the treatment room.
  • Document treatment records accurately and highlight any deviations to the lead or physician.
  • Communicate treatment procedures to patients and families and address medical questions.
  • Observe patients for reactions and report to appropriate staff.
  • Provide patient education on side‑effect management and wound care.
  • Perform patient simulations, collect and input simulation data into the EMR.
  • Assist with transporting patients, reviewing charts, and ordering supplies.
  • Adjust imaging/ARGT as needed to maintain quality treatment.
  • Perform daily and weekly QA checks, notify clinical team of out‑of‑range findings.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and troubleshoot common issues.
  • Capture and verify patient treatment charges.
  • Respond to emergency situations, provide first aid, CPR, and support until a physician or nurse arrives.
  • Assist and guide other therapists under supervision.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, institutional, and departmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology; preferred BS Degree in Radiation Therapy Technology or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum one year active experience as a Radiation Therapist; recent graduates eligible for registry exam within 6 months.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Certified Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT); dual certification in General Radiography or CT Technologist preferred; current CPR/BLS required.
  • Skills: Fluency in English; excellent oral and written communication; Spanish language desirable.
  • Other: Willingness to work Monday‑Friday 8am‑5pm; rare travel required.
