Radiation Therapist

Job Summary and Responsibilities

• Greets patient utilizing AIDET, verifies patient identification, and reviews chart for proper radiation treatment parameters and physician prescriptions.
• Informs patients and families about the treatment process and answers questions.
• Prepares patients for treatment and positions equipment according to plan.
• Takes portal films or IGRT scans to ensure treatment protocols are accurately set up and followed.
• Verifies proper dosage of ionizing radiation for patient as prescribed by physician.
• Monitors patient throughout treatment by checking video monitors and intercom.
• Informs physician whenever patient experiences distress or side effects related to treatment.
• Records each patient’s treatment in EMR and documents proper notes for accurate treatment and set‑up.
• Makes sure of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate journals, books, and other literature, and by attending related seminars, conferences, and educational opportunities.

Compensation and Benefits

$5,000 sign‑on bonus plus $10,000 educational assistance available to external candidates.

Job Requirements

Education

• Satisfactory completion of a JRCERT‑accredited Radiation Therapy Program.

Licenses & Certifications

• ARRT (T) board completion within 6 months of hire.
• BLS from the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of linear accelerators and record‑and‑verify systems.
• Ability to operate radiation therapy equipment.
• Ability to manage patients.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Pay Range

$30.76 – $45.76 per hour
