The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering prescribed radiation treatments to patients in a safe, accurate, and compassionate manner. Working under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist and in collaboration with Medical Physicists and Dosimetrists, the Radiation Therapist ensures precise treatment delivery while maintaining patient comfort and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer radiation treatments according to physician prescriptions and approved treatment plans.
  • Operate and maintain linear accelerators and related radiation therapy equipment.
  • Verify treatment parameters and patient positioning prior to each session.
  • Monitor patients during treatment and respond appropriately to patient needs or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation.
  • Follow all radiation safety protocols and quality assurance procedures.
  • Assist in CT simulation procedures and patient immobilization.
  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and Dosimetrists to ensure optimal care.
  • Educate patients on treatment procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to regulatory and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Certification by ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Radiation Therapy.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred.
  • Experience working in a radiation oncology clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with modern radiation therapy techniques and equipment.
  • New graduates may be considered.
