Overview

As a Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for accurately delivering prescribed courses of radiation therapy to cancer patients, ensuring clinical precision and patient comfort. You will position patients, operate radiation equipment, perform daily quality assurance checks, and monitor patients throughout treatment, providing support and clear communication. The role requires exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and compassionate patient care for safe and effective cancer treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Radiation therapist assists with patient procedures involving patient simulation.
  • Operate Varian Trilogy linear accelerator radiation therapy equipment and other applicable devices.
  • Use computer systems such as ARIA for electronic oncology information management.
  • Greet patients, verify identification, review electronic charts for treatment parameters and physician prescriptions; provide information to patients, family and caregivers about the treatment process; discuss and answer questions regarding process, equipment, and daily visit routine.
  • Prepare patients for treatment by assisting with dressing and transporting to the treatment room. Position patient and equipment per treatment plan. Produce digital or film portal images and kV cone beam (CT-like) images as appropriate to ensure accurate positioning and treatment.
  • Program equipment to deliver treatment as prescribed; collaborate with dosimetrist and/or physicist and administration to ensure correct electronic documentation of treatment.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Technical School Graduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy
  • Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy
  • Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist: CA
  • Current BLS through American Heart Association (AHA BLS)

Preferred:

  • Two (2) years of recent radiation therapy experience
  • Experience using ARIA or IMPAC, Varian and CT simulation equipment
  • HDR brachytherapy experience
