Job Summary

The radiation therapist is an integral part of the radiation oncology treatment team. This person is responsible for the accurate delivery of therapeutic radiation treatments to patients and for simulations for patient treatments under the direction of a radiation oncologist. The therapist must have a thorough understanding of the rationale for radiation therapy as well as skills in patient assessment and interpersonal communication.

Radiation Therapist (ARRT) – Varian Ethos, PRN

Location: Lebanon, TN – Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital

Schedule: PRN | Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM | No weekends or on call

Department: Radiation Oncology | Cancer Care

Responsibilities

  • Deliver external beam radiation therapy using Varian Ethos technology.
  • Perform CT simulation and brachytherapy simulation according to clinical protocols.
  • Document radiation therapy treatments accurately in Aria and Epic EMR systems.
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and other care team members.
  • Maintain a safe, compassionate, and patient‑focused environment.
  • Administer daily radiation therapy treatments to patients across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations, consistently meeting scheduling requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily treatments and associated documentation.
  • Participate in orientation and training of new radiation therapists, providing feedback to the clinic director.
  • Perform computed tomography (CT) simulation procedures and clinical simulations as per established department protocols.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by department leadership.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certification required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Radiation therapy experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, adaptable, and team oriented.
  • Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.

Technical Skills

  • External beam radiation therapy.
  • CT simulation.
  • Aria and Epic EMR documentation.
  • Varian Ethos system.
