Radiation Oncologist: VA Medical Center- Durham, NC

Overview

Join Duke VA Medical Center in Durham, NC. The Duke University Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a board-certified/board eligible Radiation Oncologist to join our team focusing on the management of patients at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Responsibilities

• Develop clinical and research programs using radiation for oncologic and non-oncologic indications.
• Supervise and mentor trainees in the resident-led Durham VA Medical Center Radiation Oncology clinic.
• Engage with the Duke Cancer Institute’s multidisciplinary programs.
• Participate in cutting-edge radiation treatment and procedures, including SBRT, IMRT/IGRT, and SRS; support planning and execution within the DVAMC Radiation Oncology Service’s affiliated systems.
• Collaborate with investigators in investigator-initiated, Cooperative Group, and VA Cooperative Study Program clinical trials with robust accrual.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible Radiation Oncologist.
• Clinically and academically oriented, with interest in developing clinical and research programs using radiation.
• Ability to supervise and mentor trainees; collaboration with departmental and institutional programs.
• Academic rank and salary commensurate with prior experience and skill set.

Additional Information

The DVAMC Radiation Oncology Service offers cutting-edge radiation treatment and special procedures, including SBRT, IMRT/IGRT, and SRS. A new Radiation Oncology Center is planned to open in fall 2026 with two matched TrueBeam linear accelerators with kV/CBCT for IGRT, SBRT, SRS, surface-guided therapy, and in-department CT simulation. The DVAMC uses ARIA/Eclipse information management and treatment planning systems. The DVAMC Radiation Oncology Service actively participates in clinical trials with robust accrual.
