Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist to provide comprehensive radiation oncology services in a military healthcare environment. The physician will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, planning, and administering radiation treatments for patients with a wide range of malignant and benign conditions while collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review medical records, pathology, imaging studies, and diagnostic reports to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Evaluate and manage patients with breast, genitourinary, head and neck, CNS, gynecologic, thoracic, gastrointestinal, and hematologic malignancies.
  • Treat selected benign conditions including heterotopic ossification, keloids, acoustic schwannomas, trigeminal neuralgia, and Graves ophthalmopathy.
  • Perform patient consultations, follow-up visits, simulation reviews, and on-treatment evaluations.
  • Obtain informed consent and educate patients regarding treatment options and expected outcomes.
  • Develop and review radiation treatment plans in collaboration with dosimetrists and medical physicists.
  • Complete contouring and treatment plan reviews within established timelines.
  • Participate in tumor boards, multidisciplinary conferences, chart rounds, and quality assurance activities.
  • Review image-guided radiation therapy studies, including portal imaging, kV imaging, marker matching, and cone beam CT.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within required systems.
  • Support clinical trial enrollment and protocol-specific patient management when appropriate.
  • Provide educational support to residents, medical students, technologists, and healthcare staff.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and performance initiatives.

Required Clinical Competencies

The Radiation Oncologist must be experienced and competent in:

  • Nasopharyngoscopy
  • Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT/SABR)
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
  • Fractionated Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (FSRT)
  • Total Body Irradiation (TBI)
  • Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
  • Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)
  • Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D-CRT)
  • Electron Beam Therapy
  • Deep Inspiratory Breath Hold (DIBH)
  • Four-Dimensional CT (4DCT)
  • Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Successful completion of an accredited Radiation Oncology Residency Program.
  • Minimum of 24 months of Radiation Oncology experience within the previous 3 years .
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
  • Active and unrestricted Mississippi Medical License .
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of current national treatment guidelines and evidence-based radiation oncology practices.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
