Manager, Quality EngineeringSan Jose, CA | 100% OnsiteDirect Hire | $145K–$160KPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Manager to lead quality systems, reliability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across advanced engineering and manufacturing operations. This individual will partner closely with Engineering, Product Support, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy focused on product quality, process optimization, and operational excellence.This is a highly visible leadership role with direct impact on product reliability, manufacturing performance, customer satisfaction, and organizational process maturity. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in quality engineering within robotics, semiconductor equipment, or other high-technology manufacturing environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide Quality Systems and business processesPartner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Support, and Operations teams to drive end-to-end product quality initiativesAnalyze manufacturing and business processes using Lean methodologies and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to identify improvement opportunitiesDevelop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and corrective action systemsDrive root cause investigations, failure analysis, and 8D closure activities for systemic quality issuesConduct internal and external audits, including supplier and factory auditsMonitor and analyze quality metrics including yield, QPPM, nonconformance trends, and scorecardsLead Continuous Improvement Projects (CIPs) and operational excellence initiativesSupport troubleshooting and analysis of electrical and mechanical system failuresPrepare and present quality reports, benchmarking studies, and project status updates to leadershipMentor and develop Quality Engineers while promoting continuous learning and technical growthInterface directly with customers regarding quality deliverables, issue resolution, and program supportSupport implementation of digital workflows, process automation, and quality system enhancementsRequired Qualifications7–10+ years of direct experience in Quality and Reliability EngineeringStrong background in robotics, semiconductor equipment, or related high-tech manufacturing industriesExpertise in Quality Management Systems (QMS), quality improvement methodologies, and reliability engineeringStrong understanding of:GR&RHALT / HASSF47ESD / EMCISTA testingReliability modeling and apportionmentExperience performing root cause analysis, failure analysis, and corrective action implementationAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentationPreferred QualificationsExperience with SEMI standardsSix Sigma Black Belt certificationMES or Digital Manufacturing & Design Technology (DM&DT) certificationsCQE and/or CRE certificationsJapanese language skills (written and verbal) are a plusStrong negotiation, collaboration, and relationship-building abilitiesEducationBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field requiredMaster's degree preferredAdditional InformationTravel: Approximately 3–5% domestic and international travel requiredWork Environment: 100% onsite in San Jose, CATN visa holders, H1B or F1 (OPT/CPT) candidates are NOT permitted in this role.
