Quality EngineerThe Quality Engineer will act as the quality leader for the anodizing and assembly departments within the New Albany facility and be responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of the quality systems and performance within the assigned production department. The QE will work within a cross functional team to ensure exceptional levels of product performance as well as using problem solving techniques to reduce process variation and cost of non-conformance.The position will supervise daily inspection workflow for all jobs running in the department, assign work to QA inspectors as well as train all QA inspectors and operators regarding customer quality standards, gauging plans, and inspection procedures.Essential functions include:Making decisions regarding acceptability of lots and disposition of held products or any non-conforming materials.Leading the analysis and testing process of products and components.Creating new and maintaining existing Syteline data collection system for all dimensional and aesthetic tests. Also conduct SPC through use of Syteline data and train required personnel in usage.Championing continuous improvement through the use of DMAIC and Lean methods to reduce process variation and cost of non-conformance.Giving status reports to all departments at Anomatic, including Planning / Scheduling, Customer Care, Production and Quality as necessary.Responsibility for set-up approval and communication on all dimensional and aesthetic issues with supplying departments/vendors (new jobs or new production runs).Ensuring proper instrument calibration, gauge control and document control systems.Creating new and maintaining department quality standards and inspection record files.
Developing defect standard boards for aesthetic defects and gaining customer approvals.Interacting with suppliers and customers as required.Developing SOP's, conducting quality systems audits and performing training of quality procedures and skills as required.Advanced knowledge of SPC, Process Capability (Cp/Cpk/Pp/Ppk), MSA (Gage R&R, Bias, Linearity, Stability), DOE, APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Charts, and statistical analysis using Minitab or equivalent software to analyze manufacturing performance and drive process improvements.Demonstrated experience leading root cause investigations (8D, A3, 5 Why, Fishbone), supporting ISO 9001 quality systems and internal audits, analyzing manufacturing data, and leading cross-functional initiatives that reduce process variation, scrap, rework, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).Qualifications include:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or relatedPrevious experience working in a manufacturing environment with 2 to 3 years of experience within the quality field preferredDemonstrated practical use of quality systems and continuous improvement methods such as six sigma, lean, DOE, statistical data analysis.Strong communication skills to effectively communicate within the department, with other departments, and externally with vendors or customers as appropriate.Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team to meet personal and departmental objectives.Demonstrated ability to manage hourly associates and build collaborative working relationships within the quality department and between functionsAbility to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced work environment; must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong process orientated problem-solving skills to identify root causes and lead teams to implement counter measures.Strong computer skills in Microsoft office suite, statistical data analysis software such as Minitab and ERP systems.
