Reports To: Senior Distribution Manager
Job Function/Business Sector: Supply Chain – Logistics & Distribution
A medical device company focused on delivering clinically superior breakthrough solutions that will help patients get back to the things that matter.
Headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, the company is committed to creating the next generation of innovative healthcare solutions which will address our most important healthcare needs, such as reducing the use of opioids while helping patients move from surgery to recovery.

The Role
This is an on-site contract position embedded at a third-party logistics (3PL) distribution center. The Auditor is responsible for verifying that international and some domestic outbound shipments are accurate and correctly built before they leave the facility — protecting customers from overage, shortage, and damage (OS&D) issues, and ensuring every pallet is constructed to withstand transit.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
General Expectations and Accountabilities:
- Be on site at the 3PL distribution center, aligning working hours to the DC’s outbound shipping schedule.
- Physically audit outbound international shipments prior to dispatching to confirm quantities and contents match order/pick documentation, identifying and flagging any overage, shortage, or damage (OS&D).
- Inspect pallet construction and load quality (stacking, stretch-wrap, banding, corner protection, weight distribution) to confirm pallets are built to withstand international ocean, air, and ground transit.
- Reject or hold shipments that do not meet accuracy or pallet-build standards, and document findings with photos and written notes.
- Track and report OS&D findings, error rates, and trends to supply chain/logistics management on a regular cadence.
- Partner with 3PL warehouse supervisors and leads on-site to drive corrective action on recurring errors.
- Where experienced in international shipping, additionally audit export paperwork (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and similar shipping documents) for accuracy and completeness against the physical shipment.
- Maintain accurate, organized audit records to support customer disputes, claims, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Escalate systemic issues to management promptly
Your Qualifications
Required
- Ability to work on-site at the 3PL distribution center five days per week (six days if the 3PL works overtime).
- Prior experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or shipping/receiving environment, ideally including quality, audit, or inspection work.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working independently for consistent audit standards.
- Working knowledge of pallet building and load securement best practices (stacking, wrapping, banding, weight distribution).
- Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, warehouse management system data entry).
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift 50 lbs. for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication for documenting findings and working with 3PL staff.
Preferred
- Experience with international/export shipping, including familiarity with commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other export documentation.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, HTS classifications, or customs documentation requirements.
- Experience specifically auditing for overage, shortage, and damage (OS&D) or freight claims.
- Prior experience working on-site within a 3PL or in a vendor/contractor oversight capacity.
