nMental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSB)

nPosition Summary
nL&G Support and Resources is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to provide Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSB) to adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring behavioral health challenges. The QMHP will assist individuals in developing the skills necessary to achieve and maintain independence in the community, improve functioning, and reduce the need for more intensive levels of care.
nServices are provided in accordance with Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), and agency policies and procedures.
nEssential Duties and Responsibilities
nProvide Mental Health Skill-Building Services to adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and other qualifying mental health conditions.
nConduct assessments of client strengths, needs, abilities, and barriers to independent living.
nDevelop, implement, and monitor Individual Service Plans (ISPs) in collaboration with clients and treatment team members.
nTeach and reinforce skills related to:
nMedication management
nActivities of daily living
nBudgeting and financial management
nCommunity integration
nCommunication and interpersonal skills
nHousing stability
nAccessing healthcare and community resources
nSymptom management and coping skills
nCoordinate services with case managers, therapists, psychiatrists, primary care providers, social service agencies, and other community resources.
nMaintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with DMAS, DBHDS, Medicaid, and agency requirements.
nComplete progress notes, service plans, discharge summaries, and other required documentation within established timeframes.
nParticipate in treatment team meetings, supervision, staff meetings, and required trainings.
nMonitor client progress and communicate significant changes in functioning, safety concerns, or treatment needs to supervisors and treatment team members.
nProvide crisis intervention support and linkage to appropriate services when needed.
nMaintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, DMAS, DBHDS, and agency regulations.
nMinimum Qualifications
nBachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field.
nQualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-A or QMHP-C) credential through the Virginia Board of Counseling, or ability to obtain credential within required timeframe.
nKnowledge of serious mental illness, behavioral health services, recovery-oriented practices, and community resources.
nAbility to work independently and manage a community-based caseload.
nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
nProficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
nPreferred Qualifications
nOne year of experience providing community-based behavioral health services.
nExperience working with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders.
nKnowledge of Medicaid-funded behavioral health services in Virginia.
nExperience with person-centered planning and recovery-oriented care.
nPhysical Requirements
nAbility to travel throughout the service area to meet clients in community settings, homes, and agency locations.
nAbility to sit, stand, walk, and perform duties associated with community-based service delivery.
nAbility to transport clients when authorized by agency policy.
nRequirements
nValid Virginia driver's license.
nReliable transportation.
nCurrent automobile insurance.
nAbility to pass criminal background, CPS, and OIG exclusion screenings.
nAbility to complete required agency and state-mandated trainings.
