QC Lab Manager

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Laboratory Manager to lead analytical laboratory operations within a manufacturing environment. This individual will provide technical and operational leadership for quality control testing, laboratory personnel, analytical methods, and equipment while ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely release of raw materials and finished products. The role partners closely with Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering, and Quality teams to support continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and product development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the Quality Control Analytical Laboratory, establishing priorities and ensuring safe, efficient, and timely execution of testing activities.
• Develop, mentor, and manage laboratory personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate staffing, resources, and workloads to support production schedules and business objectives.
• Oversee laboratory facility management, equipment maintenance and calibration programs, laboratory supplies, and third-party service providers to maintain operational readiness.
• Serve as the technical lead for analytical instrumentation and methods, with particular emphasis on ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) and XRF (X-ray Fluorescence) technologies.
• Develop, validate, verify, standardize, and continuously improve analytical methods and laboratory procedures.
• Ensure analytical results are accurate, reproducible, properly documented, and fully traceable.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and support for laboratory instrumentation and analytical processes
• Direct testing and technical review activities for incoming raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
• Investigate and resolve out-of-specification (OOS), out-of-trend (OOT), and other abnormal analytical results.
• Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COAs), quality reports, and documentation supporting product release activities.
• Drive adherence to quality standards, data integrity requirements, and laboratory best practices.
• Oversee bench-scale catalyst activity testing and ensure the reliable operation of catalyst performance testing equipment.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and R&D teams to support process optimization, root cause investigations, troubleshooting efforts, and new product development initiatives.
• Support Quality Management System (QMS) activities, including audits, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), investigations, and document control efforts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an analytical laboratory, quality control laboratory, catalyst characterization environment, or related manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing laboratory operations, personnel development, and resource allocation.
• Strong hands-on expertise with ICP and XRF analysis, including sample preparation, calibration, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, data interpretation, and method optimization.
• Experience supporting quality systems and laboratory compliance within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical problems while maintaining high standards of data integrity and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing laboratories within an ISO 9001-certified manufacturing environment .
• Knowledge of catalyst characterization and bench-scale catalyst activity testing.
