COFICAB North America operates manufacturing plants in El Paso, Texas and Garrettsville, Ohio, serving distribution, OEM and industrial customers, and works closely with COFICAB sister plants in Mexico.

About the Role

The Purchasing Manager owns the supply of raw materials and purchased goods for COFICAB's U.S. plants, from purchase order to delivery at the dock. The role ensures materials arrive on time and at competitive cost, with disciplined follow-up on every open order, and builds a reliable, qualified supplier base, starting with copper, to support current customers and future growth.

Responsibilities

• Order Management and Delivery Follow-Up
• Follow up on all open purchase orders daily and weekly to confirm ship dates and on-time arrival
• Identify delivery risks early, escalate them, and put recovery actions in place before production is affected
• Keep production planning and plant leadership informed of incoming material status and shortages
• Maintain accurate purchase order data, lead times and supplier confirmations in the ERP system
• Sourcing and Negotiation
• Lead sourcing and negotiation for copper and other key raw materials, packaging and indirect purchases
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times and supply agreements
• Monitor commodity markets, tariffs and trade policy, and assess their impact on cost and supply
• Develop alternate sources to reduce supply-chain risk
• Supplier Management
• Qualify new suppliers together with Quality and Engineering
• Measure supplier performance on cost, quality and on-time delivery, and lead improvement plans
• Manage cross-border supply with COFICAB sister plants in Mexico, working with logistics and customs
• Financial Controls
• Work with Finance so supplier invoices match purchase orders and receipts, and resolve discrepancies quickly
• Support budgeting, cost-reduction targets and purchase price variance reporting
• Ensure purchasing follows company policies and approval limits
• Leadership
• Lead, develop and set priorities for the purchasing team
• Build standard work and KPIs for the purchasing function across both plants

Qualifications

• Required
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related field
• 7+ years of purchasing or supply-chain experience in a manufacturing environment
• 3+ years leading a purchasing or supply-chain team
• Proven track record of on-time supply and disciplined order follow-up
• Hands-on experience with an ERP system and strong Excel skills
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
