Internal Services Department (ISD) is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Purchasing & Contracts Analyst I vacancies related to the homelessness crisis.
Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. Before the end of your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%. Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Purchasing & Contracts Analyst I.The Purchasing & Contracts Analyst I works under the direction and guidance of a more senior level purchasing and contracts analyst and performs routine acquisitions of specified equipment supplies or services and participates to increasing degrees in more complex acquisitions and longer-term contracts and agreements for multiple purchases.
Reviews requisitions, determines the appropriate informal or formal bid process, identifies sources, prepares solicitation and contract documents using standard terms and conditions and makes awards based on simple bid price comparison. The incumbent practices generally accepted purchasing and contracting principles in the context of County policies, procedures and legal requirements.Minimum Requirements: Option I: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university. -OR- Option II: Three years of purchasing and/or contracts experience in a competitive bid environment involving the acquisition of equipment, supplies, and services. And a valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
This class requires light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
