Moving Safety ForwardResponsible for advising on buyout for HVAC equipment, subcontractors, and mechanical and plumbing construction materials for the fabrication shops and construction projects. Serve as the primary liaison and company representative for our key suppliers, ensuring strong and effective partnerships. Assists in the execution of continuous improvement projects relating to purchasingJob ResponsibilitiesProject BuyoutReviews vendor quotes, quality metrics, lead times, drawings, specifications, preferred partnership agreements, bundling opportunities, and makes buyout recommendations to project teamsPartners with Preconstruction and construction project teams to advise on vendor selectionProvides product alternatives to reduce project costs or escalation concernsRequests and reviews product submittals and IOMs by comparing them to contract documentationCreates material tracking logs and writes material POs and subcontracts.Assists project teams with escalating performance concerns to vendors and manufacturersCollects feedback from project teams on vendor performance through making site visits and attending project meetingsResearches and resolves invoice and purchase order discrepanciesVendor EngagementWorks with the project teams and the legal department to manage vendor and subcontractor terms and conditionsCreates material lists and sends RFPs annually for buying agreements of construction materialsHosts annual performance reviews with key suppliersDevelops and maintains a good relationship with all supplier partners.Bundling & RebatesCollects and reports on preferred partnership agreement spend to the Purchasing ManagerIdentifies opportunities for discounted pricing through bundling multiple jobs together for vendor awardAnalyzes company spend data to identify spend patterns and provide cost savingsMaintains the equipment and material pricing databases, pricing indices, and escalation tracking databasesOtherAssists with the execution and troubleshooting of process improvement projectsCreates and reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for purchasing department processes as required.Performs all job duties within McKenney's values and operates with integrityPerforms additional duties as requestedActively communicates any issues with the Purchasing ManagerBasic QualificationsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's Degree preferred in Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or degree in Supply Chain Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, with equivalent experience.Solid MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and computer skills3-5 years of procurement experience, specifically in a project-based or job-specific procurement environment, knowledge of spreadsheets, email, and web-based applicationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesComputer skills, including PC experience in Windows environments with a working knowledge of spreadsheets, e-mail, and web-based applicationsAble to identify methods of implementation to solve issues and proactively plan to satisfy requirementsDetail-oriented with demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple prioritiesAble to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bill of materials (BOM)Effective and professional communication skillsEffective interpersonal and teamwork skills with internal and external customersAbility to access, analyze, and act to resolve daily and ongoing issuesAbility to initiate process improvementsMust be self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to respond quickly to changing customer demandsAbility to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goalsWorking knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies, accounting, and business contract law.Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed, as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidanceProfessional appearance and demeanorMust have exceptional work ethic and demonstrate the highest standard of conduct and integrity, while upholding McKenney's company values.Preferred RequirementsFamiliarity with the mechanical contracting and construction industryKnowledge of piping, plumbing, sheet metal materials, and commoditiesKnowledge of HVAC equipment and/or plumbing fixturesKnowledge of SmartsheetConstruction procurement experienceWorking Conditions and Physical EffortsWork is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.
