Pioneer Pulmonology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is seeking a Pulmonary Critical Care Physician to provide daytime inpatient pulmonary and ICU coverage in Southern Hillsborough County, Florida. This is a growth-oriented role within a physician-owned practice, with future plans to expand into interventional pulmonology, advanced bronchoscopy including Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy, and outpatient pulmonary clinic services.

The immediate clinical focus will be hospital-based daytime coverage for pulmonary consults and ICU patients. As the program continues to develop, the ideal candidate will have interest in helping shape the next stages of growth, including advanced bronchoscopy, interventional pulmonary services, and outpatient pulmonary care.


Key Responsibilities

Inpatient Pulmonary & Critical Care

  • Provide week on/week off hospital coverage with 8 hour daytime shifts managing ICU patients, pulmonary consults, and inpatient follow up.
  • Partner with nocturnist critical care APPs who provide overnight ICU coverage, with remote physician availability during service weeks.


Outpatient Pulmonary & Lung Nodule Clinic

  • Participate in future outpatient pulmonary clinic development as services expand beyond the initial inpatient pulmonary and ICU coverage model.
  • Support the long-term vision for coordinated pulmonary and lung nodule care pathways as the outpatient program grows.


Interventional Pulmonology

  • Bring interest or experience in interventional pulmonology, with the understanding that advanced bronchoscopy, Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy, and expanded interventional pulmonary services are planned future growth areas.
  • Help contribute to thoughtful program development, including workflow planning, technology adoption, and service-line growth as these capabilities are introduced over time.


Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Engage in multidisciplinary tumor boards and partner closely with thoracic surgery, oncology, radiology, and critical care teams.
  • Contribute to program development, care coordination, and quality improvement initiatives.


Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree; board certified or board eligible in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine.
  • Fellowship training is preferred.
  • Experience with bronchoscopy and lung nodule management is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care.
