Clinical Psychologist - Program ManagerThe New York Harbor VA has an opening for a Clinical Psychologist - Program Manager. The position is based at the Brooklyn VAMC campus. Psychologists - Program Managers have broad program management responsibilities for a specific program or programs that are designed to deliver specialized, complex, highly professional services that are important program components of the facility and that significantly impact the health care provided to Veterans.
This position is for a Program Manager for the PCMHI Program. Major Duties and Responsibilities:Demonstrates knowledge of, and ability to appropriately utilize, evidenced based practices and clinical practice guidelines and demonstrates the ability to guide staff in using these tools.Oversees the selection of candidates for assigned vacancies.Ensures that the areas under their responsibility are in compliance with accreditation requirements for VA, Joint Commission, CARF and other required regulatory guidelines.Works closely with the Section Chief, Psychology and ACOS MH, to obtain and appropriately distribute Psychology resources with NYHHS.Oversees the utilization of funds, supplies and equipment as assigned.Assures that functional statements or position descriptions for staff positions under their supervision are accurate and updated.Oversees the Performance Appraisal cycle for assigned staff, assuring that performance standards and appraisals are accurate and communicated to staff according to established time frames.Supports the Human Resources management program for their assigned area with adequate attention to staff development, incentive awards, and disciplinary action when necessary to maintain performance standards.Has knowledge of the local bargaining union and the ability to work within the rules and regulations set forth in the contract. Supports internal policies and programs concerning such matters as equal employment opportunity, merit promotion, labor management relations, and position management; and in fostering a commitment to those programs from subordinates.Collaborates with MH leadership in the strategic planning for the service both on an annual and long-range basis.Serves as the first-line supervisor for all assigned staff including approving leave requests and certifying time cards.Provides direct administrative and professional supervision of subordinates and has program development responsibility, as assigned.
This involves Psychology provision of a full range of psychological services to inpatients and outpatients throughout the NYHHS in interdisciplinary settings within a matrix management style. Includes consultation, direct patient care, education, training, research, and performance improvement activities in which Psychology is involved.Communicates with assigned staff to disseminate policy, provide NYHHS updates, discuss performance and obtain feedback.Monitors timely completion of staff encounters, notes, clinical reminders, compensation and pension exams. Is familiar with clinic utilization, VISTA scheduling requirements, productivity guidelines, and performance measures for mental health.
Integrates and delivers cost effective, high quality patient care for their assigned clinical programs and administrative functions.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pmTelework: Not AvailableFunctional Statement #: 49235FPay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
