A major regional medical center in Newark, New Jersey is seeking a skilled inpatient psychiatrist for a 6-month contract starting in January 2027. Featuring standard weekday hours (8:30 AM 4:30 PM), a manageable census on an adult involuntary psychiatric unit, Epic EMR integration, and dedicated support staff, this position offers an outstanding clinical opportunity.

Step into an established acute inpatient psychiatry setting, managing adult involuntary psychiatric admissions alongside supportive clinical and administrative hospital staff.

• Clinical Scope: Provide comprehensive inpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment, including:

  • Daily rounding, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management for adult involuntary inpatient populations

  • Managing an average daily patient census of 12 to 15 patients

  • Documenting patient progress, treatment plans, and order entry via Epic EMR

• The Schedule & Shift Structure: Full-time weekday schedule (Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM 4:30 PM ).

• Call Requirements: On-call coverage is required.

• Practice Autonomy & Support: Solo attending setup supported by dedicated nursing and clinical staff ( zero APP supervision required ).

• Assignment Duration: 6-month contract (January 2027 start).

All interested candidates must hold board certification or legitimate board eligibility and active NJ state licensure.

• Degree & Board Status: MD or DO; Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in General Psychiatry.

• Licensure: Active, unencumbered New Jersey State Medical License.

• Clinical Competency: Proven expertise in adult inpatient psychiatry, acute involuntary holds, and complex psychopharmacology.

• Technical Skills: Epic EMR proficiency preferred.
