Job Summary

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary Behavioral Health team.   Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of psychiatric conditions

  Provide medication management and collaborate on individualized treatment plans

• n

  Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including therapists, social workers, and primary care providers

• n

  Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives

  n
n
• n

  Opportunity to see both adult and child/adolescent populations

  Participate in shared call

  Engage in medical education through supervision and teaching of psychiatry residents

  Demonstrate quality in documentation

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

n
• n

  Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and successful completion of a residency and internship.

  n
n
• n

  Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.

  n
n
• n

  Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.

  n
n
• n

  Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

  n
n
• n

  Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.

  n
n
• n

  Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.

  n
n
• n

  Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.

  n
n
• n

  Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.

  n
n
• n

  Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.

• n

  Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  n

• n

  Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.

  n
n
• n

  Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.

• n

  Effective verbal and written communication skills.
