Psychiatrist

The University of Rochester Department of Psychiatry is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist for its Division of Adult Acute Psychiatry. This role involves working with an acute patient population in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at Strong Memorial Hospital. The position offers an academic appointment with the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, providing a unique opportunity to join a vibrant, multidisciplinary team in a leading academic medical center.

• Work in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center.
• Join a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, trainees, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and clinical evaluators.
• The program handles over 9,000 visits per year, serving as the primary provider of emergency psychiatric services in Western New York.
• The CPEP operates 24/7 with an interdisciplinary team.
• The program includes a dedicated behavioral health space adjacent to the Emergency Department, Extended Observation Beds unit, a Mobile Crisis Team, and a Crisis Stabilization Hub.
• Strong Memorial Hospital is an 800-bed, University-owned teaching hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide acute psychiatric care in an emergency psychiatry setting.
• Teach and clinically supervise psychiatric residents and medical students.

Compensation

• Total Compensation Range: Sr. Instructor $209,000 - $260,264.
• Total Compensation Range: Assistant Professor $221,350 - $287,611.
• Total Compensation Range: Associate Professor $243,200 - $315,271.
• Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
• Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.

Shift & Schedule

• Full time position.

Qualifications

• Must possess an MD or equivalent.
• Must be board certified (or board eligible).
• Must obtain NYS licensure prior to start.
• Must have an unrestricted DEA.
