Role Description

The Psychiatrist is a full-time, on-site role based at Bronx Psychiatric Center in Bronx, NY. This position involves conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing evidence-based treatment plans for individuals, including adolescents when appropriate. The Psychiatrist will provide ongoing medication management, psychotherapy as appropriate to the role, and crisis intervention, while collaborating closely with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other care team members. Daily responsibilities include documenting clinical encounters, participating in case conferences, coordinating care with outside providers, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. The role also includes educating patients and families about treatment options, adhering to ethical and regulatory standards, and supporting a safe, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Medicine and Psychiatry, with the ability to integrate medical and psychological perspectives in patient care.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Psychiatric Care and Mental Health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across diverse populations.
  • Current full medical license to practice psychiatry in New York State; board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and with culturally diverse communities.
  • Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records and standard psychiatric assessment tools.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, patient-centered care, and ongoing professional development, including staying current with evidence-based guidelines.
  • 4-year Residency training in Psychiatry; fellowship in subspecialty is a plus.
