Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care while exercising independent medical judgment.
- Monitor psychotropic medications for effectiveness and side effects and adjust treatment as clinically indicated.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary leadership and care teams to ensure uniform psychiatric and mental health services.
- Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call services.
- Support referrals, transfers, crisis intervention, and clinical collaboration with mental health and medical staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university with psychiatry specialty training.
Experience
- Experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.
- Experience in providing psychiatric services to an adolescent population is preferred for youth facility clinical assignments.
- Corrections experience is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of practice.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.
- Current DEA registration (unless determined optional)
- Current BLS certification
