We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our outpatient behavioral health team and provide high-quality psychiatric care to a diverse caseload of children and adults.

The Role


The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric services to an outpatient caseload of children and adults. The position offers substantial independence in clinical practice while providing the opportunity to collaborate with other behavioral health professionals.


Responsibilities include:

· Providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment to children and adults in an outpatient setting

· Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans

· Providing ongoing psychiatric care and medication management within the scope of practice

· Collaborating with members of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team

· Participating in case conferences as needed

· Maintaining timely and appropriate clinical documentation

· Performing other related duties consistent with the role


Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners have significant independence in this position. Administrative supervision is provided by the Director of Community Mental Health Services.


Minimum Qualifications


Applicants must meet the following requirements:


A. Possession of a current license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York at the time of application, with maintenance of such license and registration for the duration of appointment; and


B. Possession of current certification by the New York State Education Department in the Psychiatry specialty area to practice as a Nurse Practitioner; and


C. Possession of current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a national certifying body that has established standards for Nurse Practitioners, including certification through either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) at the time of appointment and for the duration of appointment.
