Position Summary

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Blackbird Health, you’ll play an essential role in delivering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults. You’ll build meaningful connections with patients to support their engagement in treatment, spending the necessary time with patients and families to understand their needs, educate them about care options, and provide ongoing support. You’ll ensure patients are making progress against their care goals and take the necessary steps to keep them safe. Working alongside an interdisciplinary team, you’ll be empowered to make a tangible difference in the lives of young patients and their families.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric care: Conduct thorough evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses; develop personalized treatment plans; manage medication safely.
  • Build meaningful therapeutic relationships: Spend time to understand patients’ experiences, educate families, and maintain ongoing support.
  • Drive patient progress and safety: Monitor progress against goals, adjust plans, and intervene proactively when concerns arise.
  • Collaborate for integrated care: Work closely with therapists and other professionals to create coordinated treatment plans and participate in weekly team and supervisory meetings.
  • Educate and empower families: Provide consultation and education to help families understand diagnoses, treatment options, and support their child’s mental health journey.
  • Ensure clinical excellence and compliance: Oversee diagnostic testing, maintain HIPAA‑compliant records, and perform other clinical duties as assigned.

The Basics You’ll Need

  • Work a minimum of 15 hours per week during peak after‑school hours (after 4 pm ET on weekdays or any time on weekends).
  • Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program, PMHNP‑BC certification, and at least two years of independent psychiatric experience under licensure.
  • Experience as a PMHNP working with ages 2 and above.
  • Active Virginia PMHNP/APRN license, DEA license, and State Prescriptive Authority.

Salary Range: $155,000 USD – $165,000 USD
