Meta is seeking an experienced Prototype Build Engineer to join our team. As a Prototype Build Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the execution of prototype builds from concept through delivery, working closely with internal and external partners to ensure successful outcomes
Responsibilities
- Partner with internal teams and vendors to plan and manage operational resources required to execute prototype builds
- Collaborate with Research Engineers to deliver prototypes as requested
- Resolve schedule setbacks by developing and implementing recovery plans
- Work with program management to ensure the assembly flow is properly supported across functions to deliver material and hardware on schedule
- Provide program status updates and risk assessments to management to support short- and long-term goals
- Communicate prototype build plans across multiple programs
- Establish and drive a clear plan and path forward for executing prototype builds successfully, including:
- Defining scope, timelines, and resource requirements
- Identifying and mitigating risks and dependencies
- Developing and maintaining detailed schedules, milestones, and build plans
- Coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and collaboration
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience with consumer electronic products
- 2+ years of experience with hardware development cycles and sustaining hardware
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing assembly and test development
- Experience leading engineers and technicians in daily work and building teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- MS degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
- Experience building cross-functional relationships
- Experience with optical and electro-mechanical systems
- Experience optimizing designs for existing products or devices
$144,000/year to $204,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
