Location and Lifestyle

Come join our clinic in the heart of Jackson, Tennessee, which has been in operation for over 30 years. You will work alongside a Certified Prosthetic Assistant, an Orthotic fitter, and other skilled staff. Our patient population spans all ages—from geriatrics to pediatrics. We service hospitals within a 70‑mile radius and require some travel and on‑call rotations. The clinic has onsite fabrication capabilities with two technicians. Jackson offers parks, recreational activities, museums, and is close to Memphis for additional entertainment.

Role Overview

As a Prosthetist and/or Orthotist, you will provide or supervise comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care for patients. You will assess patients, formulate treatment plans, implement those plans, follow up, and participate in practice management. If not yet certified, you will provide care under the direction of a certified clinician.

You will combine clinical and technical skills to evaluate patients, design, fabricate, and fit prostheses and/or orthoses for exceptional outcomes. You will collaborate with the rehabilitation team and innovate using the latest technology to empower human potential.

Your Impact

• Collaborate with physicians to evaluate patient need for prosthetic and/or orthotic services; recommend treatment options when necessary.
• Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
• Formulate design of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
• Select materials, take cast measurements, model modifications, and layouts, incorporating new techniques and materials.
• Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments.
• Evaluate devices on patients, adjust to ensure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality.
• Instruct patients on the use of devices.
• Identify and reconcile issues to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Provide follow‑up with patients and physicians.
• Conduct in‑service training for physicians and allied health professionals.
• Use materials management, quality and performance processes to maximize device quality and medical efficacy while balancing cost and operational performance.
• Meet with referral sources to review services, develop and enhance relationships, and secure future referrals.
• Plan and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets in coordination with management.
• Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
• Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians.
• Assist other clinical staff.
• Provide information to administrative staff for reimbursement activities.
• Adhere to all safety regulations, Medicare, government regulations, bloodborne pathogen safety, and OSHA requirements.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
• May be asked to make on‑call hospital calls or float between more than one Hanger Clinic location.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC).
• Or a baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics (or foreign equivalent) and current ABC Board‑Eligibility.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record per Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
• For states requiring licensure, ability to obtain and maintain state licensure.
• Consideration for candidates certified in one discipline who wish to see patients in their discipline while completing a residency in the other.
• Consideration for candidates who are not certified or board‑eligible but have at least five years of supervised experience in prosthetic and/or orthotic services.

Physical Abilities

• Ability to lift patients and equipment, easily lifting 50 pounds alone.

• Fine motor skills for scheduling and preparing patients and equipment.
