Job Overview

AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified Prosthetist to provide prosthetic and orthopedic services at the Center for the Intrepid, BAMC,TX . The Prosthetist will fabricate, maintain, repair, assemble, fit, and test prosthetic and orthopedic devices according to prescription specifications and applicable professional standards.

Key Duties

• Fabricate, maintain, and repair artificial limbs, orthopedic braces, surgical supports, casts, and other prosthetic/orthopedic devices .
• Read prescriptions/directions and determine appropriate fabrication materials and tools.
• Measure, lay out, shape, cut, grind, drill, weld, sew, glue, bolt, and assemble device components.
• Shape plastic and metal around patient casts and apply appropriate padding and coverings.
• Perform finishing work, including pigmentation and polishing of prosthetic devices.
• Test devices for movement, alignment, fit, and biomechanical stability using appropriate instruments.
• Maintain accurate patient treatment documentation and medical records according to facility requirements.
• Perform duties consistent with the professional standards required for prosthetic/orthotic services.

Qualifications

Education: Completion of a clinical residency program recognized by the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) .

Certification: Current American Board for Certification (ABC) in Prosthetics & Orthotics certification, plus required BLS .

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 3 years as a Prosthetist .

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen .

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 0700–1600 , at CFI. Regular duty is approximately 40 hours per week / 1,920 hours annually .

Work Environment

This position works in a specialized military rehabilitation environment at the Center for the Intrepid , supporting patients requiring prosthetic and orthopedic devices. Work includes direct patient interaction as well as technical fabrication using specialized tools, machinery, and materials.

Health & Other Requirements

Must meet physical examination, annual influenza immunization, other required immunizations, and TB screening requirements . The position is emergency/mission essential , cannot be performed by telework, and requires an active Tier 1 (T1) background investigation before beginning services. The PWS also requires the ability to lift at least 70 pounds .
