We're seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Real Estate Tax, to take ownership of corporate property tax functions and drive meaningful results for this national real estate organization. This role does not have any direct reports.
This role is in office Monday through Thursday with a base salary of $130,000 - $160,000 depending on experience with 20% bonus.About the RoleAs the Senior Manager, Real Estate Tax, you'll be the driving force behind property tax strategy—from analyzing assessments and managing appeals to budgeting and coordinating with cross-functional teams. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will directly influence bottom line and operational efficiency.What You'll DoStrategic Analysis & Decision-MakingEvaluate property tax assessments and determine appeal viability using cost, income, and sales comparison approachesConduct comprehensive case reviews by analyzing sales data, assessment notices, rent rolls, income/expense reports, and market trendsMake critical decisions on pursuing appeals and subsequent optionsLeadership & RepresentationLead the entire appeal process from initial assessment through resolutionRepresent cases before administrative appeals boards and participate in settlement negotiationsInterview, evaluate, and negotiate with external consultants and attorneysFinancial Planning & CollaborationOwn real estate tax projection and budgeting cyclesPartner with Asset Management, Finance, Legal, Property Management, and Accounting teams to explain budgets, valuations, and appeal strategiesProvide clear, detailed explanations of complex property tax matters to stakeholdersOperations & SystemsMaintain and update property tax databases and information systemsConduct research, analyze evidence, and develop strategic recommendations for complex tax mattersEnsure accurate tax bill processing and documentationWhat You'll BringRequired QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in commercial property assessment and/or valuationBachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, or related fieldAdvanced knowledge of property taxation principles and valuation techniquesStrong understanding of property tax and real estate terminologyProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)For immediate consideration, email your resume to Thyra at
