Job Overview

Duties

  • Handle property tax protests at the Appraisal District level.
  • Conduct legal research and build case strategies.
  • Negotiate favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Work directly with property owners.
  • Collaborate with a close-knit, high-performing team.
  • Manage litigation cases from start to finish.
  • Provide general input to diagnose, investigate, and provide solutions to problems.
  • Plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Develop arguments and represent property owners during judicial and administrative proceedings.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and legal briefs.
  • Propound and respond to written discovery.
  • Negotiate settlements and resolve cases favorably.
  • Exercise proper professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Attend mediations and settlement conferences.
  • Keep supervisor informed about case progress through reports and verbal communication.
  • Stay informed about current legislation, especially concerning property tax and local government.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, seminars, publications, networks, and professional societies to meet CLE requirements.

Requirements

  • 0-5+ years of legal experience.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • Knowledge of the Texas Property Tax Code preferred.
  • Property tax litigation experience preferred.
  • EducationJD from an accredited law school.
  • CertificationsLicensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • SkillsStrong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve cases favorably.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
