Property Accountant - Metro AtlantaThe Property Accountant is responsible for the full lifecycle of property-related accounting, including leases, capital expenditures, tenant improvements, and reconciliations. This role partners closely with the Real Estate team, oversees expense allocations, supports budgeting and forecasting, and ensures compliance with ASC 842 and GAAP standards. The position requires analytical rigor, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments.Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for rent, CAM, taxes, and utilitiesRecord monthly rent payments and manage tenant improvements, capital expenditures, and property-related assets/liabilitiesReconcile security deposits, landlord statements, and lease escalationsPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual property financial statements and variance analysesSupport budgeting and forecasting for real estate costs across multiple locationsProduce ad hoc analyses for relocations, expansions, or lease renegotiationsReview leases and amendments for proper accounting treatmentAllocate real estate costs to departments, practice groups, or cost centersValidate landlord CAM reconciliations and escalate discrepanciesWork with Accounts Payable to ensure timely processing of property-related invoicesAssist with internal and external audits, maintaining supporting documentationDevelop and maintain internal controls over property accountingEnsure compliance with GAAP and firm policiesBachelor's degree in Accounting3–5 years of property or lease accounting experienceStrong understanding of GAAP and ASC 842 lease accounting standardsExperience with accounting systems (e.g., Aderant or similar) and ExcelHigh attention to detail and accuracyStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesExperience in professional services or law firm environment preferredFamiliarity with multi-office, multi-state lease portfoliosProfessionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial informationCompetitive salaryComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceHSA and FSA plans401(k) with 3% employer contributionPaid maternity/paternity leavePaid time off and holiday programsFirm-paid life insurance and long-term disabilityEmployee Assistance ProgramYear-end bonuses and referral fee programs
