Job Overview

The Project Site Leader will provide world‑class jobsite leadership for large, long‑duration, high‑profile projects involving Vertiv power and/or thermal equipment. As the primary Vertiv Service on‑site technical representative, the Site Leader will oversee construction start, start‑up, site acceptance testing, and project completion, while maintaining excellent rapport with customers, sales representatives, and internal teams. The role works closely with the Project Manager to drive cost controls, schedule adherence, resource management, and a positive customer experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide jobsite construction and technical leadership.
  • Leverage knowledge of critical infrastructure equipment in data centers, including Vertiv products.
  • Lead a multi‑disciplinary on‑site team, including Project Leaders, Installers, Technicians, Customer Engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Represent Vertiv at daily customer meetings and communicate technical requirements to coordinate on‑site activities.
  • Lead and support start‑up and site testing activities, ensuring sufficient manpower, providing onsite assistance, and delivering daily status reports to Service Management, Project Management, and sales representatives.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Stay current on Vertiv equipment start‑up and commissioning processes, procedures, and tools of the trade.
  • Maintain awareness of Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Lead daily toolbox talks, pre‑job safety walks, and inspections, driving corrective/preventive actions promptly.
  • Enforce all site and Vertiv safety policies.
  • Operate safely following published guidelines and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Adhere to the 14‑hour work‑hour policy and report all incidents within 24 hours.
  • Serve as a role model for safety, using STOP WORK authority and Good Catch engagement.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to the Vertiv Warranty process in partnership with the Project Manager.
  • Provide accurate, timely reporting: timecards, expense reports, mileage reports, SR/task closures, and other required forms.
  • Support the Project Manager with technical data to maintain project systems.
  • Maintain company property in compliance with company policies (credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, smartphone, etc.).

Customer Satisfaction Responsibilities

  • Maintain clear communication with internal and external customers.
  • Align daily customer expectations with Vertiv activity and resolve misalignments promptly.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction rates per company guidelines.

Personal Performance Expectations

  • Make decisions based on Safety, Quality, Timeliness, Cost, and Productivity.
  • Make timely technical and commercial decisions under pressure.
  • Maintain productive utilization rate.
  • Adhere to dress code and safety regulations.
  • Follow startup/escalation processes and corporate behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Handle stressful situations calmly and diplomatically.

Qualifications

  • Experience
    • ASEET or ASMET preferred.
    • Equivalent industry experience, especially in power and HVAC start‑up and commissioning.
    • At least six years of military experience in a related field.
    • Minimum two years of industrial construction management experience.
  • Interpersonal Skills
    • Vertiv Behavior practitioner.
    • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain trusting customer relationships.
    • Collaborative and cooperative in high‑stress environments.
    • Executive presence and responsiveness to changing priorities.
  • Technical Skills
    • Read and interpret electrical one‑line diagrams and blueprints.
    • Site evaluation, reporting, and recommendation of solutions.
    • Direct technical activities of other technicians.
    • Expertise in COHE procedures and site acceptance testing.
    • Computer skills: advanced word processing, report generation, spreadsheets, email, test‑equipment analysis, and network familiarity.
    • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Must maintain product certifications up to date and meet all performance standards.

Working Conditions

  • Long‑term assignments (4 weeks to 12+ months) based on project scope.
  • Field rotation for out‑of‑area projects: 3 consecutive weeks on‑site followed by 1 week of service break at home office.
  • Industrial new construction (green field) or retrofit construction (brown field).
  • Flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license and deployability in emergencies.

Physical Requirements

The role requires frequent standing, walking, handling tools, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Vision requirements include close, distant, color, peripheral, and depth perception. The Associate must consistently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated salary range in the CA locality: $91,029 – $113,852 per year (varies by locality). Eligible for merit increases, annual bonus, stock, profit sharing, travel or car expenses, and sales incentives. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401(k).
