Project Manager – Utility & Civil Construction

Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL
Work Setup: Hybrid (3 Days On-site, 2 Days Remote)
Contract Length: 1 year
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 40 Hours/Week | Core Hours: 9 AM–3 PM
Project Manager – Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee utility relocation and civil construction projects throughout Chicago's western suburbs. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management, construction coordination, and financial forecasting expertise to ensure successful project delivery.
Project Manager Responsibilities

• Manage 10–12 utility infrastructure and civil construction projects simultaneously.
• Review engineering drawings, construction plans, contract proposals, and contractor bids.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, monthly cash flow forecasts, and schedules.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, utilities, and project stakeholders.
• Conduct field walkdowns and site visits throughout the western suburban region.
• Monitor project milestones, costs, risks, and deliverables.
  

Project Manager Qualifications
Required:

• 3 years of project management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Studies, Project Management, or a related field.
• Experience in electric, gas, or water utilities; civil construction; or engineering projects involving utility installation or relocation.
• Experience reviewing construction bids and contract proposals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and monthly project cash flow forecasting.
• Ability to interpret civil construction documents.
• Willingness to travel to project sites in Rockford, Elgin, Freeport, DeKalb, Aurora, Crystal Lake, and surrounding areas several times per month.
  

Preferred:

• Utility relocation project experience.
• PMP certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  

Project Manager Work Arrangement

• Remote: Mondays and Fridays.
• On-site: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
• Field Visits: Approximately once per month per project, depending on project needs.
  

Interview Process: One interview round using STAR-based behavioral questions.
