This role will include project management responsibilities.Essential Functions:Maintain and foster good relationships with current and potential transportation clientsStrong technical skills for road, storm sewer, culvert, trail, or traffic projectsPerform AutoCAD Civil 3D design/drafting in support of civil engineering design projectsProvide training, guidance, and review engineering designs and reports which include design calculations, project specifications, and plan preparationOversee team performance and workload; facilitates work sharing with other locations and practices to deliver best in class projects to our clientsManage projects including client communications, public input and feedback, financial performance, and internal supportAbility to identify engineering and surveying services needed by the client and the ability to draft proposals and estimate feesFamiliar with, identifies and pursues funding mechanisms to support our transportation clientsRequired Traits & Characteristics:Experience consulting or working with local, regional, and state governmentStrong interpersonal skills requiredMentoring capabilityAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingPassionate about organizing and leading others; drives results by planning, prioritizing, and meeting tight deadlines requiredAbility to work independently with a self-motivated attitude; capable of overseeing multiple projects simultaneouslyOrganizational Relationships:Reports directly to Senior Project ManagerSupervises direct report project engineers and designersRequired Education/Experience:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related fieldPE licensure in Michigan8+ years of experience managing transportation projects; roads, culverts, trails, traffic8+ years of experience in A/E/C industry with record of transportation client retention/attractionPreferred Education/Experience:5+ years of experience in developing business5+ years of experience managing direct reportsTravel:Position based in Kalamazoo 10-15% local travel
