Project Manager (Contract) | Greenwood Village, CO | Hybrid

Our Fortune 500 telecom client is looking for a Project Manager for its data engineering team: someone who brings order and direction to a group of business analysts and the roughly 50 projects they carry. You will plan what gets done and in what sequence, support sprint and capacity planning, and keep the team aligned with the larger company roadmap. The BAs lead the conversations with stakeholders and technical teams. You connect that work to leadership.

This is a backfill for a team member who moved to a different team. The team is early in its agile journey and runs a hybrid of waterfall and agile, with increments of five two-week sprints. All work is for internal stakeholders, with no customer-facing launch cycle.

THE DETAILS

• Location: DTC area (Colorado)

• Schedule: Hybrid, onsite 3 days and remote 2 days per week

• Contract: Long-term W2, renews every 6 months

• Pay: $65/hour W2

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan the overall work of the BA group, including what gets done and in what sequence

• Support sprint and capacity planning

• Define work increments with the BAs across five-sprint increments

• Act as the link between the BAs and leadership, keeping both informed

• Keep the team's work aligned with the larger company roadmap and make sure data elements for upcoming launches are prepared

• Track a large portfolio of concurrent projects

• Help the team build stronger delivery practices while staying flexible about how the process is applied

REQUIRED

• Project management, program management, or similar planning and coordination experience

• Sprint planning, capacity planning, and agile delivery experience

• Ability to blend agile with other methods such as waterfall

• Familiarity with SDLC practices

PREFERRED

• Telecom industry experience

• Experience organizing data engineering work, such as analysis and ETL

WHO THRIVES HERE

• Mentally flexible: adapts the methodology to the team, not the team to the methodology

• A people person and strong listener who speaks with purpose

• Comfortable aligning people without formal authority over them

• Calm when the team does things differently than the textbook

GOOD TO KNOW

• W2 hourly employee of Brooksource, paid weekly by direct deposit, 40 hours per week with a weekly timesheet

• The client has mandatory unpaid furlough weeks for all contractors: Nov 23-27, Dec 21-25, and Dec 28-Jan 1

• No PTO during the contract. After 13 weeks you are eligible for paid time off on six major holidays (if you average 35+ hours per week), and after one year you become eligible for PTO accrual and the 401k

• Paid sick time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, starting day one

• Health, dental, and vision enrollment within 45 days of start, typically active 60-90 days after start
