Project ManagerThe Project Manager works closely with the Project Engineer, Shop Leads, Customers, and Scaled Management to assure cost and schedule performance is being properly tracked and met. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles.

We have flown an average of one new aircraft type per year over our 41-year history such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch.Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Work closely with Contracts department, during contract award, to fully understand the contracted scope of work to be performed.Develop an earned value reporting process in order to meet program requirementsDevelop and maintain production schedules for complex aerospace systemsEnsure alignment between manufacturing capacity and program timelinesSupport bids and proposals by providing accurate cost estimatesTrack actual costs vs. planned costs and identify variancesForecast labor, material, and equipment needs based on program requirementsDevelop strategies to mitigate bottlenecks and ensure on-time deliveryCollaborate with the Project Engineer and shop lead to generate and maintain a schedule, with clearly defined milestones; adjust the budget and schedule to reflect any contractual changesSupport the Project Engineer in monitoring and negotiating the engineering and shop staffing with regard to the right skills and number of people assigned to the projectProvide the Project Engineer and Management with a health visibility report at established intervals as required or requestedClearly communicate the project health to Management and the project's external customerVerify (check and balance system) that the technical requirements of the contract are being fulfilled, and if not discuss with the Project Engineer and Management as requiredAdvise and review all Business Analyst deliverables specific to their projectManage resources for the implementation of project-related activitiesExcellent planning skills to include the ability to anticipate and prepare for challenges and obstaclesImprovise and re-baseline as neededTrack all expenditures, materials, subcontracts, etc., as requested by Management or required by the contractRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and 6 years relevant experience or Master's Degree and 4 years relevant experienceProven experience in MS Project scheduling, including creating, updating, and analyzing complex project schedules.Experience working in a SAP environmentAbility to see the whole picture and understand what it will take to complete a project within cost and scheduleExceptional organizational skillsAbility to develop and analyze data, and present findings to customers and managementStrong analytical problem solving skills and ability to implement sound critical thinking skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and ProjectAbility to implement budgeting conceptsExperience with earned value reportingAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret ClearancePreferred Skills and Qualifications:Advanced MS Project skills, including resource leveling, critical path analysis, and schedule risk management.Familiarity with Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) development and maintenance.Knowledge of scheduling best practices in aerospace or defense programs.Essential Job Functions:Requires mobility and the ability to bend and reachMay infrequently require lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling materials weighing up to 30 pounds.Manual dexterity and coordination are required; repetitive hand motion (e.g., to operate computer keyboard)Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus for prolonged periods (i.e., computer screen)Ability to remain sedentary or stationary for prolonged periods of timeAbility to write for extended periods of timeAbility to work in an office setting for prolonged periods of timeMay be asked to carry up to 20 lbs. up and down a flight of stairs on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc.Occasional reaching overhead and lifting up to 15 poundsAbility to converse and communicate information with othersOccasional exposure to chemical vapors and/or fumes in low non-hazardous concentrationPotential to climb up and down steps on a dailyMust be able to read and understand SDSLevel 2 - $86,320 - $129,480Level 3 - $107,040 - $160,560
