Our client is a premier design-build landscape firm ( $75M annual revenue) serving high-end residential and commercial clients across the Washington, DC metro area. Following a recent equity partnership, the company is in an accelerated growth phase.
The Role
The Project Manager leads design-build landscape projects from sale through completion, with a geographic focus on Arlington, Northwest DC, Montgomery County, and Great Falls. You will collaborate with designers, architects, clients, and foremen to organize logistics, delegate tasks, maintain the implementation schedule, and schedule and manage subcontractors splitting your time between active job sites and in-office coordination. Commercial-side project management experience is welcome.
Key Responsibilities
Production Scheduling: Maintain the long-range production schedule, develop individual project schedules, and coordinate field personnel, equipment, and material deliveries.
Subcontractor Management: Schedule, confirm, and supervise subcontractors such as irrigation, lighting, and other specialty trades.
Project Handoff & Pre-Construction: Run the post-sales handoff with the design team and lead on-site pre-construction meetings with designers and the client.
Procurement & Logistics: Manage procurement and inventory of lead-time and stock materials, and coordinate daily deliveries.
Field Coordination: Coordinate daily between field crews and designers site layout of hardscapes, rough layout of plant material for designer review, and timely punch-list completion.
Daily Site Presence: Conduct daily site visits covering client communication, site stabilization and drainage, job-site organization and material staging, protection of the property, and coordination with other trades.
Cost Tracking: Track labor and material costs across each project and develop labor data that sharpens future estimating.
Team Leadership: Manage multiple field crews (15 25 employees, including laborers and foremen); support recruiting, training, and performance evaluation of field personnel.
Ideal Candidate Profile
2 3+ years of project management experience; landscape construction, design-build, or commercial-side project management experience is welcome.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Highly motivated, self-driven, and detail-oriented, with a can-do attitude.
Professional in appearance and actions; punctual and dependable.
Able to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels.
Comfortable working outdoors year-round on active construction sites.
